  • The United States Bowling Congress ("USBC") thanks you for your entry into the 2026 USBC Open Championships! You can expect to look forward to a fantastic competition and fun. Please read the following important information.

    Of course, as with any competitive sport, there is a risk of bodily injury while participating in USBC bowling events and activities, whether caused by you or someone else. USBC is taking reasonable and prudent steps to ensure the safety of its members and their guests at the bowling centers and other premises where USBC bowling events and activities take place.

    THUS, USBC IS HEREBY NOTIFYING YOU OF CERTAIN LIMITATIONS TO ITS LIABILITY. AS A USBC EVENT PARTICIPANT, BY YOUR SIGNATURE BELOW, YOU HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE AS FOLLOWS:

    • You expressly and voluntarily accept and assume all of the risks inherent in participating in USBC bowling events and activities, including but not limited to bodily injury, or disease strains (e.g., fractures, sprains, muscle and/or ligament tears, eye injury, heart attack, or other ailments that could cause serious disability), that might be caused by your participation in this USBC event or activity, or the negligence of USBC and all of its directors, officers, owners, agents, employees, predecessors, attorneys, insurers, affiliates, subsidiaries, related corporations, parents corporations, and successors (collectively, “USBC’s Released Persons and Entities”) or the owners, lessors or occupants of the premises on which any USBC bowling event or activity takes place.
    • You hereby voluntarily release, forever discharge, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless USBC’s Released Persons and Entities from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action which are in any way connected with your participation in any USBC bowling event or activity arising from negligence on the part of USBC’s Released Persons and Entities. This release does not apply to claims arising from reckless or intentional conduct.
    • You acknowledge that neither USBC’s Released Persons and Entities nor the owners, lessors or occupants of the premises on which any USBC bowling event or activity takes place owes any duty to keep the premises safe for entry or use by others participating in any recreational activity, including but not limited to competitive bowling activities, or to give warning of any hazardous condition, activity or use of any structure on the premises to persons entering for those purposes.
    • You further acknowledge that by competing in this event, neither USBC’s Released Persons and Entities nor the owners, lessors or occupants of the premises on which any USBC bowling event or activity takes place are extending any assurance the premises are safe for the purpose of competitive bowling or assume responsibility for or incur any liability for any injury to person or property caused by any act of persons to whom permission is granted to participate in such USBC bowling event or activity.


    Again, safety is a team sport. If you observe any unusual or significant hazard during your participation at any USBC bowling event or activity, please notify the nearest USBC or competition official and remove yourself from the situation as soon as possible.

    ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY REGARDING INFECTIOUS DISEASES

    USBC also firmly believes maintaining a safe environment requires a team effort. To that end, consistent with guidelines, we ask that all participants and their guests comply with event practices. We ask you to be mindful of the fact that participation in USBC bowling events and activities includes possible exposure to an illness or infectious diseases.

    By participating in a USBC bowling event or activity, you freely and fully assume the risk and understand this Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability form is intended to cover any and all claims, demands, or causes of action which are in any way connected with your contraction of any infectious disease, at any USBC bowling event or activity or arising from negligence on the part of USBC’s Released Persons and Entities.

    By signing this Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability form, you expressly acknowledge that you have had sufficient time to read this entire form and, should you choose to do so, consult with legal counsel prior to signing. Also, you understand that entry into the event might not be made available to you or that the cost of entry would be significantly greater if you were to choose not to sign this Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability form and agree that the opportunity to compete at the stated cost in return for the execution of this form is a reasonable bargain

  • 8. Are you a past or present member of Team USA (adult team only) or any other country's national adult bowling team in the past 10 years (2016-2026) ?

    The following designations do NOT fall under this rule:

    1. Members of Junior Team USA; and or
    • Any age-restricted classifications commonly known as "Juniors," "Masters," "Seniors," "Veterans" or other similarly designated age-restricted competitions


    NOTE: This ONLY applies to past team members who are under the age of 60 at the time of competition.

    I do NOT have a qualifying 27-game Open Championships average. I will be using my highest previous certified league (single or composite) average from either the 2022/2023, 2023/2024 or 2024/2025 seasons converted to Sport.


       
    I have NOT bowled in a certified league in the past three seasons (2022/2023, 2023/2024 or 2024/2025) or have a qualifying 27-game Open Championships average. I will be using my current season's (2025/2026) highest certified league (single or composite) average of 21 games or more converted to Sport.

    Selecting this option requires you to provide the appropriate average verification, such as league standing sheet(s) for all current averages at the time of bowling on-site at the 2026 USBC Open Championships.

    The USBC Open Championships rules require certified league averages to be converted to a Sport average. 

    The Sport Challenge Average Conversion Chart can be used to convert a bowler's certified Standard or Challenge average to Sport.
